Known for it's versatility in a wide range of wind and wave conditions, the Slingshot Celeritas has been a kitesurf favorite for a number of years. The 2016 incarnation of the Celeritas brings a complete graphics overhaul, color-matched traction pads, and a new "all the way back" footstrap insert.

What We Like:
We've enjoyed riding the Celeritas season after season, and we're stoked that Slingshot has made some minor tweaks to the traction pads, graphics, and the addition of the "all the way back" footstrap insert. We're also stoked that the shape remains practically unchanged for 2016, so we still get the same Celeritas magic we've been loving year after year. The board is equally at home in dumping barrels or rolling swells, flatwater, beach breaks, reef breaks, everywhere. The short "trunk" shape with good surface area in the center of the board and a tight rounded thumb tail allow the board to excel in any conditions you choose to ride.
The 2016 Celeritas graphics are beautifully designed and proudly display the bamboo veneers that contrast perfectly with the green and blue accents on the board. The traction pad is cut into multiple pieces and pre-installed for a perfect fit.
There is an additional footstrap insert way back on the tail of the board, behind the back foot traction pad. This allows you to mount the footstrap all the way back, "locked-in" over the traction pad, to really drive power through the back foot and crack some solid turns in powered, vertical conditions. This is a really awesome innovation and although it hasn't received a ton of focus in Slingshot's marketing, it's one of the coolest new features on the 2016 Celeritas.

The Celeritas is only available with footstrap inserts. For dedicated strapless riders, there are other options out there that don't have the added weight of footstrap inserts.
Most of our testers ride the Celeritas without footstraps and the added weight of inserts doesn't slow them down at all. The board isn't excessively heavy and sometimes a little extra weight is nice in really choppy or powered conditions.
The 5'11" size has less rocker and a little extra width to help with light-wind riding, heavier riders, or beginners learning to get up and get moving with ease.
